How to get to your hotels in Sentosa?

Getting to your hotels in Sentosa is easy. Should you be driving yourself to your hotels, do note that you will have to pay for a Sentosa Island entry fee which starts from $2, based on what time you enter the island.

Sentosa ExpressImage credit: Sentosa

If you’re opting for public transport, taking the Sentosa Express monorail is your best option. You can board the monorail at VivoCity level 3, and rides will cost you $4. Do note that the Sentosa Express monorail is not open 24/7; the first train departs at 7am, while the last train departs at 12am.

You can also take a direct bus to enter Sentosa, bus no. 123. You can board it from Bukit Merah bus interchange, and it’ll make stops at Resort World Sentosa, Village Hotel, and Sentosa Express’ Beach Station. Another bus you can take is the RWS8 bus, which you can board from bus stops at VivoCity, and it’ll bring you to Resorts World Sentosa.

Sentosa shuttle bus

Also you might want to call your hotels to check if they have a shuttle bus service which can ferry you to their doorsteps. For instance, guests staying at The Outpost Hotel Sentosa can board a complimentary shuttle bus from locations like VivoCity and Resorts World Sentosa for a fuss-free ride to their hotel.

However, if you’re looking to return to your hotel after hours, your best bet is to call a private hire vehicle to bring you to your hotel. This is because the Sentosa Express monorail, as well as public buses and even hotel shuttle buses do not operate till late.

If you’d like to save on the Gateway fee or Sentosa Express monorail tickets, you can walk in and out of Sentosa via the Sentosa Boardwalk. It’s a relatively leisurely route complete with shelter and travelators, taking you to the nearby VivoCity in 15 minutes or less.

Best capsule hotels in Singapore

Staycations are the new sleepovers. While we once took turns to crash our friends’ houses as kids under parental supervision, we’re all grown up now, and have slightly more atas squad parties in hotels.

But along with these chill sessions with juicy stories and lots of laughter, comes an empty wallet. It’s just not feasible to keep splashing cash on pricey hotel rooms, and while chalets are cheaper, they’re usually located in hard-to-reach corners of the country.

Fret not – hostels are “in” now, and we’ve found capsule hotels in Singapore that are perfect for that weekend sleepover with your squad, minus the hefty price tag.

Best hotels in Singapore for all budgets

There’s no shortage of hotels in Singapore to cater to both tourists who fly in for special occasions like concerts and Formula 1, as well as locals who are after staycations.

While there are 5-star options that come with fine dining and a pillow menu, you’ll be surprised at the amount of budget accommodations that are trendy, comfy, and chic. Below, we’ve compiled a list of the best hotels in Singapore, from cheap and cheerful establishments to celeb-approved resorts so you know where to lay your head the next time you’re in Singapore.

Hotels & hostels in Singapore for all budgets

Let’s be honest: a hotel can truly make or break your vacay. While you’re out there searching for a swank hotel that’s clean and comfy, you’d still want to stay within your budget. That, however, doesn’t mean you’ll have to be relegated to a war-torn motel.

Take a leaf out of this trusty list of the best hotels for every budget the next time you want to book a room so you can treat yourself and your wallet at the same time.

Which area of Singapore to stay at?

Singapore’s pretty accessible via public transport, so we’d proudly say that anywhere is great. But if you’re planning to do some major shopping without having to travel far, Orchard and Somerset areas are your best bet. For those with a big budget or travellers coming in for special occasions like Formula 1 weekend, have a look at the swanky hotels in the Marina Bay area.

Then there’s Sentosa island with its abundance of resort-like hotels where you can hop on a free shuttle to the beach and attractions like Universal Studios Singapore in a jiffy.

If you’re on a budget, have a look at Little India, Chinatown, Clarke Quay, and Boat Quay. These neighbourhoods are where you’ll locate wallet-friendly hotels like Fragrance Hotel and Hotel 81, as well as backpackers’ hostels.

Can you book a hotel under 18 in Singapore?

To be able to book a hotel room in Singapore, you’ll need to be 18 and above. Photo IDs such as your NRIC or passport are required upon check-in. Those under the minimum age will have to be accompanied by an adult.

In terms of hotel booking tips, one of the best ways to compare prices between various booking platforms is simply Googling the hotels and dates of your stay. Generally speaking, weekend rates tend to be higher than weekday rates.

It’s always a treat to uncover hidden gems in a city that you may have travelled to several times, but never got a chance to explore like a local. When all the touristy spots have been checked off the list, enhance your travel experience by rediscovering such neighbourhoods through the lens of the natives.

And what better way to do that than to ask the locals themselves? When you stay at any of the Hotel Indigo properties, make it a point to check in with the staff and ask for recommendations on where to go and what to do in their neighbourhood. Lastly, remember to ask for free items you can borrow to accompany you on your adventures.
